Did you say yes to having the avatars baby? Ha.

Rhizome writes...

The body has not disappeared with technology, not even in Second Life. Instead “a certain kind of subjectivity has emerged.” (193) This subjectivity cannot be placed within a frame of generalizations or overall trends, but is performative and “always to some extent improvisational.” (197) Avatars navigating SL for the first time have no choice to improvise their virtual existence as they probe the “world” and their avatar’s functions. Inevitably this randomness leads to pattern, and habits form.

I agree with this...I was thinking about my beginning uses of 2nd life and how navigating and understanding it was such an issue. Now I have developed habits such as searching for groups, teleporting to random places, talking to "friends", and adjusting my avatars appearance. For example. Sometimes I will smoke in RL and I have noticed sometimes my avatar will smoke in SL.

When you were with these avatars did you tell them you were a researcher? They seemed open to telling/explaining things to you.

No, I did not tell them I was a researcher. It seems I now have to.
